Three good reasons to buy houses in Playa de Aro

Three good reasons to buy houses in Playa de Aro

In summer the beach towns of the Costa Brava are divine, yes, but life continues in the following seasons as well. Three good reasons to buy houses in Playa de Aro although we know that they are many more of them, but we prefer to keep the secret… It is worthwhile enjoying them without the crowds of the holiday season

Playa de Aro (in Catalan, Platja d´Aro) spreads over an area of more than 2 km of beach and, together with Castell d’Aro and S’Agaró, makes up one of the emblematic municipalities of the Costa Brava. This privileged area offers an excellent quality of life, thanks to its mild climate and colorful sunsets. With an approximate population of 10,500 inhabitants, its occupation increases five times in high season, reaching 50,000 inhabitants.

In the past, Playa de Aro had been a small fishing village located on the road from S’Agaró to Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Due to its great growth as a holiday destination, it currently forms a single municipality next to Castell d’Aro and S’Agaró, two neighboring towns that also experienced a significant influx of tourism in recent decades. The extension of the entire municipal complex is 21, 68 km2 and is located in the Baix Empordà.

First: the Camí of Ronda from Platja d’Aro to Palamós

Without a doubt, the first important reason is this road that borders the coast of the Costa Brava and connects the beautiful villages along the sea line. The Camí of Ronda, which starts in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and ends in Begur, is a route of great scenic beauty to do by foot. The part that connects Playa de Aro with Palamós stands out for its beauty and for being one of the most spectacular parts of this route. Cliffs, small bays of blue water, beaches, tunnels and narrow paths that draw the almost wild nature that has made the Costa Brava famous, make up a route of 7 km to the town of Sant Antoni. This part that is possible to walk through in a couple of hours is the favorite of hikers. Afterwards, the route becomes in a long seafront promenade with a pleasant route that extends to Palamós.

Second: The Port of Platja d’Aro and its wide range of Sports Clubs

While the sun and the beach are the main attractions for tourists, a subject apart is what is sought when buying a home in Playa de Aro. And this is when the facilities and services make an important difference, especially when looking for tranquility away from the city in a magnificent house where you can disconnect from everything. For residents and those who want to spend a season beyond the summer holidays, it is important to socialize and have other activities which are possible to do without waiting for the summer. Winter sports activities are concentrated mainly in the tennis facilities, the golf club and the Port d’Aro. There are two tennis clubs: the Tino Tennis Club, in the towns and is the closest to the beach, and the Tenis d’Aro Club, a sports center close to the residential area. There is also a golf club and golf school located in the vicinity of the urbanization Mas Nou of Playa de Aro. To complete the offer of outdoor sports, there is a minigolf, the paddle tennis club Nàutic Pádel, and when you are arriving at Castell d’Aro there is the Shooting Club, farthest from the urbanization Mas Nou.

Club Náutico Port d’Aro deserves a special mention, as it is the sport activity par excellence on the Costa Brava and the one that concentrates the most interest. It is open during all year, it focuses its activity with the arrival of good weather but during the winter it continues to focusing of a large part of the day and night leisure: regattas, courses, sailing school, markets, tents and restaurant.

It is the small bays that characterize the coast of the Costa Brava, and which have made Playa de Aro internationally famous, together with its long sandy beach, which extends to Sant Antoni de Calonge. Sun and beach tourism have overcrowded the beachfront of the area, but it is still possible to enjoy its charming bays. Especially when the high season has already come to an end and the weather is still good for walking, sunbathing or sitting down to read and write. It is a pleasure to enjoy the corners of Cala Rovira, Cala Sa Cova or Cala Sa Conca when there are few people and it is possible to appreciate the sound of the sea or walk among the rocks watching the waves break under your feet.

Yes, these three good reasons to live in Playa de Aro may seem few, but they are more than enough. The rest has to be discovered, although it is a good starting point.
